I use bottled water because our tap water makes the coffee taste gross. I am actually looking to buy one for my office but I was surprised to see that the retail price is almost double what I paid for mine. I've had this product for two years now and it still brews a great cup off coffee. When I pour my coffee, I pour it slowly and keep a paper towel handy. I will be shopping for a used one. I agree with the other reviewers about the spillage. I finally just gave up and I use a plastic cup to fill the reservoir with water instead of the carafe.
or excess capacity of other coffee makers. Usually smaller, basic products are made/designed more cheaply. I do wish that on/off switch was easier to operate, but that's my only criticism of this product. I haven't had the problem with spilling water/coffee that others have - perhaps Cuisinart redesigned the lid. That's not the case here. This product has done just what I wanted it to, without the frills (do we really need a clock on everything).
I use both the gold filter and a paper filter -- great coffee. Nice appearance, works fairly rapidly, and easy to clean up afterwords.
Difficult to fill cup with coffee without spilling (carafe lid leaks)3. Carafe lid is sometimes difficult to snap into placeI only keep it because it is small and I'm the only coffee drinker at home. Good cup of coffeeCons:1.
One learns the first time not to stand directly in front when attempting to lift lid5. Also, I am too lazy to return it. Power button cannot be turned-on with one hand6.
The cons far outweigh the pros of this little machine.Pros:1. If you lift the reservoir lid (which also holds the hot water dispenser) at the end of the cycle, water that had formed on the underside of the lid will spill back onto the boiling element and shoot steam and drops of boiling water on you hands and at your face. Someday, whimsy will present a new machine to me.
Difficult to fill reservoir without spilling2. Difficult to fill cup with coffee without burning hand with escaping steam from carafe.4.
This is the only machine I have found to fit on our countertop without having to be moved daily.you'll love this compact.Cuisinart has products that are funtional & affordable and withstand the test of time.enjoy your Java. This is a perfect coffee maker if you have limited counter space and low cabinets.
